Splendid may have always been the naive type of guy, but having this as a date never processed through his mind until Petunia brought it up. It was sort of suggestive, wasn’t it? He meant it in a friendly matter, honest!
Even so, a faint trace of a blush blended in with the red of his mask and he cleared his throat nosily to break the awkwardness. “Time me? You’re on! I’ll race home and make those lickety split!” And like that— he was gone, leaving a gust of wind trailing in his take off.
The hero returned thirty-five seconds later, to his dismay, landing in front of his friend with a basket and a plaid cloth in his arms— appearing slightly out of breath. “Time?” He had a feeling he went over because he took too much time making sure the slices of cheese were perfect squares inside the sandwiches.
Petunia had seated herself in the grass as the time slowly ticked by on the watch that was upon her wrist. She was beginning to wonder if he really could do it in under thirty seconds.
Nope, that was pretty much lost as the seconds hit thirty-one. Then it was thirty-two…Then she felt another gush of wind, automatically assuming it was him. Her eyes glanced up at him as a small smirk lay on her lips. “Thirty-five seconds. Pretty close time, but you still didn’t make it under thirty,” she told him, sticking her tongue out for a moments notice before pulling it back.
“But don’t worry, I won’t think any less of the hero for now.”
